Too Close for Christmas...

Right, November 30th, which means that tomorrow means I get to pull open that tantalizing door number 1 on the Cadbury's variety miniatures advent calendar that's been sat by my desk for a week. (I do hope I don't get a whole nut chocolate).
It also means that the Too Close For Comfort Blog will be inundated with Christmassy stuff in the festive period - Xmas themed pictures, a few print-offable goodies, and stuff to make those 24 days leading up to Jesus' Birthday a little bit more festive. There'll even be a temporary change of decoration to force the festivities that little bit more on you. Think of it as a web-based advent calendar...excpet with pictures instead of chocolate...come to think of it you'd probably be best off buying an advent calendar...or at least eat a piece of chocolate while you're looking at the pictures...
Anyway, the first treat o' the season will be up tomorrow.

A New Post(er)...

This is the fake B-movie poster I was talking about a few weeks ago. It should have been up a while back but I got the flu.
It's meant to look like something from a 50s theatre lobby - it's even been artificially aged to make it look like it's from then, and had some jiggery-pokery done to it to make it look like its on canvas instead of paper. I've already got a big poster of this and it looks lovely, even if I say so myself...

"It would make me weep, if I still had tears to shed"

The second in my Batman pics is my favourite villain of all time - Mr. Freeze. Let me know what you think of it...

Why So Serious?

I'm a HUGE Batman fan, and love to draw the Caped Crusader, so -because I've nothing better to do - I've done a collection of pictures featuring the denizens of Gotham. Above is The Dark Knight himself, and over the coming days you can expect to see my favourite characters: Mr. Freeze, The Riddler, Commissioner Gordon and, of course, The Joker.
As ever let me know what you think of them. The pic above is meant to be simplistic - all shadows and darkness, just like Gotham and its 'hero', and its also meant to highlight just how alone Batman is.

Above is the pic for my fake movie poster 'Monkey From Beyond The Stars'. Click on it to get a better view. Still to be added are all the fake titles and lettering, and the finished article should be up close to the end of the week. Leave your comments about what you think of the pic tho - I'd love to know.

Don't Buy Sci-Fi...

I love vintage movie posters - the ones back when each one was a work of art, no matter how crappy the movie was - and I especially like the ones from the terrible (and not terrible) Sci-Fi and B-movies of the 50s and 60s. Stuff like Robinson Crusoe on Mars (featuring Adam West and a monkey!), The War of the Worlds, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and the Brain that Wouldn't Die. I also have a space on my wall I need to fill. But have you seen how expensive some of these original posters can be? Well I didn't fancy spending several thousand pounds on a poster, so I decided to make my own. So in the coming days keep an eye out for 'MONKEY FROM BEYOND THE STARS', my own tribute to the kind of film you'd see on Mystery Science Theatre 3000. I'm turning it into a poster for my wall and who knows, I might even raffle one off or something... I dunno...

All the best blog-fans!

I saw Mommy Kicking Santa Claus's Ass...

If you don't know who Santaklaas is don't worry, I didn't know either until like, 2 days ago. Google him if you like. If you do know who he is, you might like this cartoon. Santa Claus (left) and Santaklaas (right) in a fight to see who is the best Santa! Corporate Clause vs. the European Santa I only just heard of. Who will win? Why, the proper Santa of course! He has reindeer! Ho ho ho, it's going to be a kick-ass Christmas! :)

"Right fellas, here we are: 5th of November! We've got the Treason, we've got the Plot, now, is there anything else we haven't remembered...?"
