Last night I had an idea for a cartoon, but oddly enough it didn't feel like an idea I would come up with. In fact, it felt more like the kind of joke you'd see on xkcd. And so that is how I drew it, with full homage to that wonderful webcomic about romance, sarcasm, math and language...

I don't get it. Is it something that you'd only get if you'd seen the movie, or am I just dense?
You don't necessarily have to have seen the movie, just know a bit about it, but it does help.
